Frequently Asked Questions

We are inside the CISCO building on 3rd and Broad, with the entrance off of 3rd Avenue. Take the elevator to the 5th floor and follow the signs for Avant Physical Therapy

We do not validate parking for the garage. Street parking is typically cheaper and plentiful. If you are being dropped off at PT and need a shorter distance to walk, your driver can take you into the garage where you can take the elevators upstairs. They are able to exit within 15 minutes from entry without a fee.

While there are many elements of soft tissue work within physical therapy, we do not offer strictly massage appointments. We can recommend excellent massage therapists, though!

Foremost, please schedule these appointments as soon as possible, as you will need at least 2x/week for several weeks. You will need to know how many days or weeks, after surgery, your surgeon wants you to begin PT. Bring your protocol and any notes from your doctor to your first appointment. We’ve got the rest covered for you.

If you cancel your appointment with less than 24 hours, there is a fee, which is further detailed in your intake paperwork. If your appointment is on a Monday and you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask you do this no later than the previous Friday, so we have time to fill the appointment with someone else who needs it.

Wear something comfortable that you can easily move and exercise in. If you are a dancer, please bring your dance shoes with you. If you are a runner, please bring your running shoes.

Great question! We get asked this a lot, and there’s no singular right answer for every case, but PT is a great place to start (and often finish)! Our PTs go through an exam with each new patient, which helps them to create a working diagnosis of your pain or injury. If during this exam they find anything that warrants a further workup (imaging or other diagnostics), we can recommend an excellent provider for you.

Washington state is a direct access state, which means that many insurers do not require a referral to PT. That said, there are some exceptions to this rule, including some Kaiser plans and Labor and Industries. If you are not sure if a referral is required, you can always reach out to customer service for your insurance company.

If you have already scheduled an appointment with us, please take the time to fill out the following documents and bring them to your visit. This will help us make your visit as amazing as possible.

  1. Complete the Online Patient Registration Form
  2. Print and complete the following 3 Intake Forms
  3. What if I don’t complete the forms before my visit?
    • Please plan to arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled initial exam so you may fill out the forms in the office. They must all be complete prior to your appointment.
  4. If you saw your physician before this visit, bring your referral
  5. Call your insurance company to verify your benefits

Sessions are approximately 45 minutes and spent with one PT throughout – no aides, no assistants. First visit will include an examination to better understand the source of your pain. It will likely also include home exercise prescription and treatment, as time allows. Physical therapy benefits will be verified prior to your first appointment. We encourage you to also call your insurance companies to check your benefits. Coverage varies per insurance contract. Co-pay and deductible amounts are paid at the time of service.

Avant PT is easily accessible by foot or bus. If you are driving, you have a few different options for parking. There is usually plentiful street parking around the clinic, just be sure to give yourself a little extra time to find a good spot. We recommend the Pay By Phone app for ease in parking in Bell town.

If you prefer the garage, you are also welcome to park there. It is accessible on 2nd Avenue, just north of Broad. It is also accessible on Broad, just east of 2nd. The parking lot is managed by Spaces and the steps to park are detailed in this infographic. We recommend you save Spaces’ phone number in your contacts and call the number when you arrive at the parking gate

Bikes can be stored and locked in our parking garage. For cleanliness and space conservation, they are not allowed to be stored inside the clinic. To access the garage, take the elevator to UP (upper parking). As a reminder, Avant is on the 5th floor after you have parked and locked your bike.
