Betsy, a dancer and native Seattleite, was inspired to pursue her Doctorate in Physical Therapy when taking a course in Biomechanics and Kinesiology for the Dancer as an undergraduate. This class seamlessly combined her passions for science and analysis of movement, while helping her to better understand her own history of injury.
After volunteering at Westside Dance Therapy in New York City, Betsy completed two quarters of independent study in dance medicine while in PT school. She has continued to support dancers throughout her career by consulting for Pacific Northwest Ballet, volunteering with Seattle Performing Arts Medicine, and pursuing dance-specific continuing education courses, in addition to her Certification in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.
Betsy enjoys treating a diverse patient population from a variety of athletic endeavors and hobbies, with clinical interests including balance dysfunction, pelvic pain, headaches, persistent pain, TMJ disorder, osteoporosis, and autoimmune disease. She believes in treating the whole patient and enjoys implementing holistic, evidence-based treatment programs that incorporate yoga, weight lifting, Pilates, tai chi, and self-care strategies that best suit each individual.
When she’s not treating patients, Betsy cares for herself by running, kickboxing, practicing mindfulness, taking yoga, or teaching Zumba and Strong Nation HIIT classes. Her only job more rewarding than being a physical therapist is being a mom to her two girls, and being a partner in all things to her husband.
